Bush flying has a funny way of ignoring your plans, right?
You brief the route, pick a destination, everything looks fine — and then the weather shifts, visibility drops, or that tiny strip suddenly isn’t as inviting as it looked on the map.
And sometimes it’s not even the sim. Real life (most likely my wife or kids in my world...) just steps in and says: you’re done for now.
What always bothered me about most virtual airline or career systems is how they handle this: if you don’t finish exactly as planned, it’s like the flight never happened.
That doesn’t feel right. I did fly and spent time in the air. That should count for something.
So we have a new version for FrontierWings 1.1.0 which is addressing this issue.
A More Realistic Approach
In FrontierWings, flights don’t have to end perfectly to matter.
If things don’t go as planned, you have two simple options:
- land somewhere safe quickly and continue later or
- land somewhere safe and end the mission entirely - kind of an alternate airfield.
Option A: Continue Later
If you land somewhere and want to pick things up another time, you can simply pause the mission and close the client.
The mission will be temporarily saved and remains active in the system. You can resume later from the same spot.
There are a few limits — same machine, same aircraft, same cargo weight, and a 7-day window — but that’s intentional. It’s meant to feel like leaving your aircraft parked, not saving a game mid-action.
Option B: End at Alternate
If you know you won’t make it to the destination, you can end the mission where you are.
The mission will fail, of course, you didn't deliver your cargo to the destination — but your flying time isn’t lost.
If the location is recognized as a proper airfield, your time in the air will be added to your flight log.
No in-air quit, please
If there’s one thing to keep in mind, it’s this: Don’t quit/close the client while you’re still in the air.
Land, come to a full stop, and then decide:
- continue later
- or end at an alternate
Tell me on Discord whether you think this is done right or if you have suggestions to make it all work better. Thanks!
