A new client which can update itself
The old Windows sim client v1.x is retired. We're now on a new version branch, the FrontierWings client v2.x, which checks for updates after you sign in, downloads them in the background and restarts itself when you're not in the air. So no more manually downloading and unpacking updates.
See the route you flew
Every entry in Career → Validation History is now clickable and opens a flight details page: logged time, credited distance, aircraft, touchdown rate and notes. For flights flown with the new client there is also a route map. Press Show map and you see the path your aircraft actually took, with pins for departure, destination, stopovers and the waypoints of your route.
Older flights have no recorded route, so they show no map.
Round trips and waypoint routes
Custom missions can now return to where they started (round trips, like sight seeing), and routes (as well as tours) can contain mandatory waypoints that you fly in order. You can upload custom flight plans (pln files compatible with FS2024, e.g. created in Little Navmap or somewhere else) and create a mission from these plans.
The mission briefing offers the complete route as a flight plan download for MSFS 2024, so you can go insert it in your favorite avionics suite (I prefer the GTN750 from PMS50).
The latest changes around the mission engine with the waypoint system opens up many new interesting options, the use of which we'll see in upcoming tours and other mission types.
More mission customization
We've had rare cases where missions would not be doable with some addon aircraft (fixed wing and helos), because the addons would not adhere to the SimConnect standard from Asobo/Microsoft when it comes to cargo weight calculation. Also, I'd like to better support people who love to fly very small and lightweight bush planes with little to no cargo space at all. So the custom missions can be configured in more detail, like cargo down to 0 weight, a range of distances to the destination (show me all airfields which are between 100 and 200 miles away) as well as runway length minimums, which comes in handy for bush pilots who like to fly fast turboprops or jets which need s longer runways.
Other enhancements
Theres now a history available where you can see what missions have been happening lately on FrontierWings (grand total), see https://www.frontierwings.eu/leaderboard?board=latest-missions
The ability to create custom airfields that are not available in the standard distribution of FS2024 have been part of FrontierWings for a while now. But thanks to the idea of Coldfire we also now have addon airfield collections for well known and loved addons which can be activated for accounts individually. For now there's a collection for the addons from "Return To Misty Moorings", a popular addon for bush flying enthusiasts which has been around a long time. Bear in mind, FrontierWings won't install the addons for you, but the airfields will be available for you in the FrontierWings database for mission generation, if you so choose.
And last but not least, after welcome feedback from FrontierWings members and others, new pilots now get a 30-day trial period (instead of just 7 days), still no payment details are needed.
